Racing Update

The 2012 season was winding down, but we had a sudden burst of greatness enter our lives with the new Seeley G50 arrival (click here for G50 details) so it was important to get some seat time on the bike before heading into Barber.  We packed up the G50 and Atlas and headed south to West Virginia - Summit Point, to be exact - where we would race with WERA for a day.  At 4.5 hours of driving, Summit Point is our closest track to NYC that offers vintage racing (2 miles further than New Hampshire Motor Speedway, according to Google, but much quicker to get to), so this was a walk in the park for our one-day adventure.  We got to the track Friday night, set up the canopy, and awoke Saturday morning to a perfect fall day.  We filled the bikes with oil and gas and away we [...]

A G50 Premier

After an outing on stunning Minnovation Racing Works Seeley G50 at Cadwell Park, a deal was struck for NYC Norton to provide complete Seeley G50 racing bikes here in the states. Minnovation and NYC Norton immediately began collaborating, building up the sister bike to the Minnovation Works G50 to showcase and campaign here in the US.   The bike was completed and track-ready by early September, 2012, in time for AHRMA/Barber festival, and a shakedown run at Summit Point beforehand.  Weighing in at under 240lbs it is an incredibly tidy package with an phenomenal power-to-weight ratio   Minnovation short-stroke G50 motor.  NRP stainless exhaust.   Absolutely top spec for the 500 Premier class.   The detail work is second to none.  Replica Fontana 210mm Front Brake.  Cosentino Internals in Roadholder forks   Replica Fontana 180mm magnesium rear brake with cush-drive sprockets   We may be biased, but this is our pick [...]

Racing Update

After playing around over in the UK, and now having missed 3 AHRMA National rounds (Roebling, Talladga, and Willow Springs) it was time to get busy here at home.  The Road America/Grattan back-to-back weekends are favorites on the NYC Norton calendar, and a fitting first outing in the US.  Plus, master NYC Norton spannerman Jon Thorndike was making his racing debut at Road America on his properly maintained Norton Atlas.  So we loaded up the Teutonic transporter and set the controls for the center of cheese country.  The weekend was predicted to be Hot and Hazy, Fast and Crazy.  And it was.  As we arrived and set up our pit,  someone had the foresight to snap a nice shot of the bikes before they got all race weary.  #17 Seeley Commando sporting new livery with silver and gold pinstripes.  Thorny's bike with a new fairing, but yet to have its [...]

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor hail…

So I jumped on an  Aeroplane and made my way across the Atlantic, touching down in Manchester, home of Joy Division and coal mining factories, but the sun was shining and folks were chipper.  I took the train to Wakefield, near Minnovation's works (shop), and was greeted at the station by my best mate Martin Page - major domo of Minnovation Racing.  From this point until I was plopped back on the plane back to NYC I was treated like royalty.  Martin and all at Minnovation made me feel like a superstar the entire trip.  When I arrived at the shop I took one look at the bikes and was blown away.  I've said it before but it bears repeating, I am so proud to be a part of this team.  Not simply because I get to race their stunning bikes at exotic tracks in faraway lands, but because they [...]

Breathe Deep

Today was a good day.  We had master fabricator and bicycle craftsman Seth Rosko of Rosko Cycle Company come to the shop and mock up an exhaust system for the Seeley NRE.  Dave Nourish is very specific with his lengths and diameters, and to keep the tuned lengths out of the way of the rider, each side will be tucked behind the frame rails, which will require some scalloping of corners of the beautiful oil tank.  Seth is the man for the job, and after an hour of cutting and fitting of pipes he had a good mockup in place, meeting all the necessary dimensions.  Look at that megga! It can be said here, with great certainty, that this bike is going to roar.  Lock up your daughters and batten the hatches. Hands Across The Water

Minnovation Racing and NYC Norton have long been collaborative.  But when the offer chimed for us to make our way to the UK and have a wobble on Minnovation's spectacular machinery, there was absolutely no hesitation. The deal was struck, the flights booked, the international ACU racing license sourced... bring on the sexy stews!  NYC Norton/Minnovation Racing will be racing at Cadwell Park on Sunday and Monday, May 6 & 7, 2012, with the CRMC, alongside some of the best classic racers in the world, at one of the most picturesque tracks ever seen.  All at Minnovation have been very supportive and so very welcoming (thanks folks), and in return we are working on a plan to have them over here before the racing season ends.  Barber??? Seen here are two of the finest racing bikes in the world - A Minnovation Seeley 750, and a Minnovation Seeley G50. Click [...]
