A Streetfighter For The World

As featured on the #1 custom bike website www.bikeexif.com/nyc-norton/ In early 2014 we got a call from an overseas number on the shop phone.  On the other end of the call was a pleasant voice with an unidentifiable accent who introduced himself as "Joe".  He was calling from his home in a small country nestled in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.  He had just purchased a pristine Norton Commando in the States and asked if we could add some performance and reliability mods to it before ultimately shipping it across the seas to him.  Sounded easy enough.  This was the humble beginning of a relationship that has circled the Earth many times.  Having already in his stable a bone-stock Commando, as well as other vintage bikes of various marques, Joe wanted this Commando to have a bit more "oomph".  This is our specialty and we were very happy to [...]

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor hail…

So I jumped on an  Aeroplane and made my way across the Atlantic, touching down in Manchester, home of Joy Division and coal mining factories, but the sun was shining and folks were chipper.  I took the train to Wakefield, near Minnovation's works (shop), and was greeted at the station by my best mate Martin Page - major domo of Minnovation Racing.  From this point until I was plopped back on the plane back to NYC I was treated like royalty.  Martin and all at Minnovation made me feel like a superstar the entire trip.  When I arrived at the shop I took one look at the bikes and was blown away.  I've said it before but it bears repeating, I am so proud to be a part of this team.  Not simply because I get to race their stunning bikes at exotic tracks in faraway lands, but because they [...]

Hands Across The Water

Minnovation Racing and NYC Norton have long been collaborative.  But when the offer chimed for us to make our way to the UK and have a wobble on Minnovation's spectacular machinery, there was absolutely no hesitation. The deal was struck, the flights booked, the international ACU racing license sourced... bring on the sexy stews!  NYC Norton/Minnovation Racing will be racing at Cadwell Park on Sunday and Monday, May 6 & 7, 2012, with the CRMC, alongside some of the best classic racers in the world, at one of the most picturesque tracks ever seen.  All at Minnovation have been very supportive and so very welcoming (thanks folks), and in return we are working on a plan to have them over here before the racing season ends.  Barber??? Seen here are two of the finest racing bikes in the world - A Minnovation Seeley 750, and a Minnovation Seeley G50. Click [...]

StealthFighter

Brushed and flat: When a project gets moving, sometimes it takes a while for it to show its character.  When we built up the motor for this bike, it was built around a good cam, porting, carbs, etc.  It was a race motor alone on the bench.  As we started to build up the bike around it, the function started steering the form. With the PW3 cam and the ported head it was clear a good exhaust would be necessary.  During a shop visit one day, owner Peter Billow looked at a few of the race bikes within and asked about the idea of a Maney exhaust.  Certainly not unheard of for a street bike, but off the menu, for sure.  But we know by now that Steve Maney's exhaust and the PW3 care are the perfect marriage, fantastic for mid-range, the power band where a street bike is used [...]
